Audit Committee

The Audit Committee is responsible for assisting the Council to safeguard Council assets, to maintain adequate accounting records, to develop and maintain an effective system of internal control and to oversee the overall performance of the organisation. It ensures the operational and financial health of the Council, through the review of regular financial and operational management reports and administration reports requiring corrective action. Transparent corporate governance is a key focus area.  The Audit Committee will evaluate the independence, performance and effectiveness of the external auditors, and consider any non-audit services rendered by such auditor(s) as to whether this substantively impairs their independence.

Fund Advisory Committee

The Fund Advisory Committee is responsible for advising the Council on the prudent management of its funds, and shall make recommendations to the Council regarding the setting of fees, procedures and policies for approval by the Council, and matters relating to the management of risk, administration of its fund or any fund

Industry Advisory Committee

The Industry Advisory Committee is responsible for giving advice to the Council on all matters relating to the operations of the home building industry, and for acting as a communication channel between the industry and the Council.

Disciplinary Committee

The Committee is responsible for adjudicating alleged breaches of the Act by home builders and recommending disciplinary measures where home builders are found to be guilty of such breaches.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is responsible for ensuring that the finances of the Council are managed properly.  The Committee regularly reviews the financial reports of Management, approves the budget and advises Council on all financial matters.

Registration Committee

The Registration Committee is responsible for monitoring the registration of home builders and for recommending appropriate policies and procedures to Council where appropriate. It evaluates owner-builder applications received, and determines whether home builders qualify in terms of the Act.

Claims and Technical advisory Committee

The Claims and Technical Committee is responsible for evaluating Claims by housing consumers and making recommendations to the Council.  In addition the Committee provides advice to the NHBRC Operations and Technical Section with regards to all technical aspects of construction and innovation (both professional and technical), which may impact on the NHBRC’s risk management process.

Risk Management Committee

The Risk Management Committee is responsible for reviewing risk management processes, and the identified risks facing the organisation.The Committee reviews the risk assessments reports and the risk register to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of the risk management strategy and plans.
